Located southwest of Shibuya Station, the Moai Statue is an often overlooked meeting spot in Tokyo. Originally donated to the city of Shibuya by Niijima, a volcanic island under Tokyo’s administration, the statue may look similar to Easter Island's moai statues - but the word "moyai" in Niijima's dialect means "to work together". While it lies in the shadow of Hachiko, its less crowded space might make a better spot for a get-together. So next time you’re in Shibuya, don’t forget to check out this stoic-looking statue!
