Dart River Adventures is, in my opinion, the best tour company in Glenorchy. Their guides will help you explore the iconic, untouched landscapes of the Dart River Valley and the Te Wāhipounamu - South West New Zealand UNESCO World Heritage Area of Mount Aspiring National Park.

Their Wilderness Jet Experience is the region’s longest jet boat ride. It takes you down the braided Dart River, past dramatic mountain ranges, and through ancient native forests. The tour is guided by passionate Glenorchy locals who, along the way, will share stories of the land and what makes the area so special.

If you’d prefer to spend a whole day out touring, their “Funyaks” Experience is super unique, combining the jet boat ride with their inflatable canoe trip. This tour lets you paddle through secluded chasms, get close to nature, and eat a delish-packed lunch. I genuinely think it’s an experience you won’t find anywhere else!

The tours leave from Glenorchy, but you get a complimentary shuttle service included in your ticket price. The shuttle departs from their Queenstown booking office, but you can also drive yourself if you’d prefer to stay in Glenorchy overnight (I highly recommend it!) If you’re driving, you’re in for a real treat, as it’s rated as one of the best roads in the world! There's limited on-site parking, but a public car park is just a short walk away, or if you’re staying at Mrs Woollys Campground (highly recommended!), you can leave your car/campervan at the campsite and walk from there.

A half-day Wilderness Jet Experience costs:

• Children: $229 (October to April) and $205 (May to September)

• Family: $927 (October to April) and $803 (May to September)

The full-day Funyaks Experience costs:

• Adults: $495 (October to April) and $429 (May to September)

• Children: $345 (October to April) and $329 (May to September)
