Split Apple Rock is a distinctive, naturally split granite boulder you can easily see from Kaiteriteri Beach, or get a closer view by joining a short boat or kayak trip from Kaiteriteri or Abel Tasman villages. If you want photos, go early or late to avoid tour crowds and to get softer light; the rock sits in shallow water so shore viewing is fine, but boats and kayaks let you approach safely. Wear sensible shoes if you explore the nearby shoreline, check sea and tide conditions before paddling, and expect minimal facilities and limited shelter at the viewpoint. Treat the formation with care out of respect for its fragility and cultural significance.
