Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe is one of the most exciting and popular destinations to visit in Switzerland. Standing at 3,454 meters above sea level, it offers stunning panoramic views as far as the Black Forest and the Vosges!

The name “Jungfrau” in German translates to “virgin” – and is probably made in reference to nuns in a convent which was located at the foot of the mountain. The Jungfraujoch refers to the mountain range saddled between Mönch and Jungfrau (the word "joch" literally means saddle). So just to be clear: you are not actually going up to the top of Jungfrau…you are at the mountain ranges IN BETWEEN, to SEE the Jungfrau!

I recommend you to go in the morning and spend about 3-4 hours. to experience the various activities listed below:

  • The Sphinx Observatory

  • Ice Palace

  • Alpine Sensation

  • Lindt Home of Chocolate

  • Jungfrau railways exhibition

Snowfun Park (mid-May to mid-October only)

Do watch my Youtube guide to get a comprehensive overview of what you can do at the Jungfraujoch.

Some of you might not be based in Interlaken, but still would like to visit the Jungfraujoch as a daytrip. If so, you should definitely book a daytrip tour organised by KKDay, as they include the full transportation and includes a guide for the whole day, from either Zurich, Lucerne. Click below to book!
