Gljúfrabúi, also known as Gljúfurárfoss, is a stunning waterfall located in South Iceland, near the more famous Seljalandsfoss.

Location: Gljúfrabúi is located in a narrow canyon, approximately 500 meters (0.3 miles) north of Seljalandsfoss, along the southern coast of Iceland.

Accessibility: To reach Gljúfrabúi, park at the parking lot for Seljalandsfoss and walk north along the marked trail for about 5-10 minutes. The waterfall is hidden inside a narrow gorge, so you'll need to wade through a shallow stream or navigate over rocks to get closer to the base of the falls.

More info: Gljúfrabúi is known for its unique setting inside a narrow and mossy canyon. The waterfall drops approximately 40 meters (131 feet) from the top of the canyon down to a small pool at the base.

Best Time to Visit: Gljúfrabúi can be visited year-round. Summer (June to August) offers the best weather for exploring the area but be prepared for more tourists during this time. In winter (December to February), the waterfall can freeze, creating a stunning icy landscape. Go before 10 AM or later in the afternoon if you want to avoid the crowds.

What to wear: Wear sturdy waterproof shoes or boots if you plan to walk into the canyon, as the ground can be uneven and slippery. Waterproof Jacket and pants are also recommended if you plan to go into the canyon

Facilities: There are basic facilities such as parking and restrooms at Seljalandsfoss, which is the nearest major attraction. There are no facilities directly at Gljúfrabúi itself.
