The Wigwam Motel is one of the most iconic examples of Route 66’s quirky roadside architecture, offering travelers a nostalgic glimpse into 1940s roadside America. Built in 1949, each motel room is shaped like a concrete teepee, giving guests a one-of-a-kind lodging experience that feels straight out of a mid-century postcard. The motel was part of a small chain of “Wigwam Villages,” and this location is one of two surviving examples along Route 66. Visitors often stop to snap photos under the neon sign or walk among the wigwams to soak in the vintage charm. The motel also celebrates the era of family road trips, harkening back to the golden age of cross-country travel. Staying here, even for a night, is like stepping back in time.
