Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan is a unique Buddhist temple located in Bangkok’s Chinatown district that boasts one of the greatest treasures of Thailand - the Golden Buddha. This large gold Buddha statue stands at 3 meters tall and weighs 5.5 tonnes, and has been covered with plaster since the 19th century. In 1955, the Buddha was discovered when the plaster was accidently chipped off while being moved to its new home at Wat Traimit. Inside the temple visitors will find the history of the Golden Buddha showcased in various displays as well as many interesting artifacts from different dynasties.
