Perched high along the PR1 Vereda do Areeiro trail, Ninho da Manta (literally Eagle’s Nest Viewpoint) offers one of the most dramatic panoramas on the entire island. From here, the jagged ridgelines stretch out like a dragon’s spine, dropping into deep valleys and rising into sharp, cloud-kissed peaks.

It’s a breathtaking spot that feels straight out of a fantasy film – especially when morning mist swirls through the mountains. Keep an eye out for actual birds of prey soaring overhead – the name isn’t just poetic.
