Message from Kieran - Exploring Scotland

The Great Polish Map of Scotland is a massive 3D concrete model of Scotland, located near Eddleston in the Scottish Borders. Built between 1974 and 1979 by Polish war veteran Jan Tomasik, it's claimed to be the world's largest terrain relief model. The map was designed by Dr. Kazimierz Trafas and constructed with the help of Polish cartographers and local labor. After falling into disrepair, a group called Mapa Scotland worked to restore it, completing the project in 2017. It's now open to the public as a unique heritage monument and visitor attraction.
