If you want to get off the beaten path - this one is for you!

Before visiting Guatapé, I of course checked out all the amazing things to do in this area. And even though I came across pretty cool things, they are all quite touristy. However, since we decided to stay at a hostel a little bit outside of town (see "Casa Kayam"), we got to chat with the locals quite a bit and they shared some secret spots with us. Like this one!

Just about 25 minutes from the town you'll reach the green meadows that kind of mark the beginning of this easy hike. From there the path will take you across small streams, through fields with grazing horses and cows until after about 15 minutes you reach the forest. As if it couldn't get any more magical, you'll continue your path through the lush tropical trees. And don't worry about getting lost, there are some signs along the way that lead you in the right direction. After another 10-15 minutes you'll reach the first waterfall.

Tucked away in the dense trees this place really reveals itself once you get there. I was purely in awe. But as amazed as I was at that moment, we continued our way up using the rope that is fastened to the boulders next to the waterfall. Even though I thought this can't get any better, I was proven to be so wrong!

Up there, even more tucked away, lies a true magical enchanted paradise. A waterfall with a little pool at the bottom for you to swim in and refresh. Surrounded by the jungle, we had this piece of paradise all to ourselves since it is still so unknown.

If you want to explore more of the not-touristy spots, this spot is a true gem and definitely worth checking out! And on top of that, the photo opportunities are seemingly endless!
