Description:
Háifoss, meaning “High Waterfall,” is one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland at 122 meters (400 ft). Located in the Þjórsárdalur Valley in South Iceland, it plunges dramatically into a deep canyon, often with a rainbow forming in the mist. Right next to it is another waterfall, Granni, creating a spectacular double view. The hike from the parking area to the viewpoint is short but offers incredible scenery of the valley below. The area is less crowded than famous waterfalls like Gullfoss or Skógafoss, making it a true hidden gem for travelers who want to see Iceland’s raw beauty.

Price:
Visiting Háifoss is free, and parking near the trailhead is also free. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended, as the gravel road leading to the parking lot can be rough. Guided tours to Þjórsárdalur Valley, including Háifoss, typically cost $120–150 USD per person.
