Lake Mapourika is a scenic recreational area in Westland Tai Poutini National Park on New Zealand's West Coast, known for its stunning mirror like reflections and activities like kayaking, boating, and fishing. It was formed by a retreating glacier and is located near the Franz Josef Glacier.

This is a great little photo spot especially at sunrise as during the winter time you are likely to get some atmospheric fog and beautiful light. There is a jetty which makes for an amazing leading line in your photograph as well. I took these shots during August (New Zealand winter) and used my 6 stop ND filter to completely smooth out the water. You will need your wide angle (16-35mm) or mid range (24-70mm or similar) for this spot to capture the whole scene.
