The Cathedral Cliffs viewpoint near Gore Bay in North Canterbury offers a stunning sight of eroded siltstone pillars overlooking the beach. It's an easy detour from the main highway, perfect for a quick stop to admire the unique natural wonder. The area resembles the Omarama Clay Cliffs near Mount Cook and is definitely worth a visit for some impressive views.

Photography info: take your mid range zoom lens with you for this one (24mm - 100mm). It would be a great spot at sunrise with the light hitting Gore Bay in the distance, or in the later afternoon near sunset for light on the cliffs themselves.
