The road out to Mount Sunday is an amazing drive with scenic views of tussock land, mountains, rivers and vast valleys. It is well worth the 16km hour long trip out to this unpopulated part of the Hakatere Conservation Reserve just to see parts of the country that truly are off the beaten track.

The road is gravel but mostly well maintained however in winter I would advise a 4wd and/or chains.

Take your wide angle lens and mid range zoom lens with you on the drive.
