McKee Botanical Garden is easily one of the most unique and beautiful gardens in Florida — it feels like a hidden tropical oasis right in the middle of Vero Beach. If you’re into lush landscaping, quiet paths, and little surprises around every corner (like ponds, waterfalls, and sculptures), this spot delivers.
It’s super manageable, too. You can comfortably explore the whole thing in 1–2 hours, just wandering shady trails lined with native palms, orchids, bromeliads, and other tropical plants. I always recommend visiting mid-morning or late afternoon — that’s when the butterflies and birds are most active, and the lighting through the trees is perfect for photos.
You can buy tickets online ahead of time and parking is free. The garden paths are mostly stroller- and wheelchair-friendly, with just a few uneven areas to watch for.
A few things to know before you go:
No pets allowed, except for service animals
They sometimes host rotating art exhibits and seasonal events, which are worth checking the calendar for
There’s a small gift shop and café with light snacks
It pairs really well with a beach stop or stroll around downtown Vero Beach, which is just a few minutes away
