If you’re in the Jupiter or Hobe Sound area, Blowing Rocks Preserve is 100% worth a stop. It’s one of the most unique coastal landscapes in Florida — seriously unlike anything else in the state. This stretch of shoreline is home to the largest outcropping of Anastasia limestone on Florida’s east coast, and when the tide is high and the surf is up, waves crash through the rocks in these dramatic, powerful bursts. It’s honestly kind of mesmerizing and makes for incredible photos.

If you want to catch it at its most impressive, try to plan your visit around high tide. That’s when the water really puts on a show, shooting through natural blowholes in the rocks and creating that signature effect the preserve is known for.

There’s limited parking, and they usually ask for a small donation — about $2 per person. It’s smart to go early in the day, not just for parking, but because the preserve closes early and the gate gets locked right at closing time, so definitely keep an eye on the clock.

Beyond the beach, there’s a lot more to see. The preserve has peaceful walking trails, a lovely butterfly garden, and shaded boardwalks that wind through native coastal habitat. It’s quiet, scenic, and feels really tucked away. Just note that swimming isn’t recommended — the shoreline is rocky and the surf can be rough, especially during high tide.

Blowing Rocks is one of those hidden gems that’s perfect for a slow morning or early afternoon — whether you’re into photography, nature, or just want to experience a completely different kind of Florida beach.
