🌡️ Geysir Hot Springs Area
🗺️ How to Get There: Located along Road 35, about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Reykjavík, Geysir is part of the Golden Circle. There’s a large parking lot across from the geothermal field and visitor center. From there, it’s a 2-minute walk to reach Strokkur, the currently active geyser, which erupts every 5–10 minutes.
📅 Best Time of the Year to Visit: Accessible year-round.
Winter: Great contrast between steam and snow
Summer: Long days, colorful moss, and clearer skies
Early morning or late evening visits help avoid crowds
📸 Photography Tips
Best time of day:
Golden hour or cloudy days work well to soften steam highlights
Winter evenings add mystery with fog and low light
Early morning for minimal foot traffic and clean shots
Recommended gear:
Wide-angle lens to capture erupting Strokkur and surrounding pools
Telephoto lens to isolate textures and boiling surfaces
Tripod for long exposures of steam movement or night shots
Composition ideas:
Position Strokkur centered or off-center just before eruption for drama
Shoot top-down patterns of bubbling pools and sinter deposits
Capture steam interacting with sunlight for ethereal effects
Use reflections in hot spring pools if conditions are calm
