Gullfoss Falls is one of Iceland's most iconic and beloved waterfalls, located in the Hvítá river canyon in Southwest Iceland. Nature lovers are sure to be mesmerized by its tremendous power, cascading 32 meters (105 feet) down two stages in a dramatic display of force. During the warmer months, approximately 140 cubic meters (459 cubic feet) of water plunge down the falls every second, while during the winter the amount drops to around 109 cubic meters (358 cubic feet). At the top of the falls, visitors can find a plaque commemorating Sigríður Tómasdóttir, Iceland’s first environmentalist who valiantly fought to protect the waterfall in the early 20th century. While at Gullfoss, don't miss the opportunity to explore the nearby attractions such as the Geysir geothermal area and Þingvellir National Park
