Seljavallalaug Pool is an exciting hidden gem tucked away in Iceland’s mountains, an experience like no other! The oldest swimming pool in the country, this pool offers stunning scenery and a unique opportunity to witness centuries of Icelandic history. Although there is no fee to swim in Seljavallalaug, visitors must take a 20-minute flat hike along a river bed to reach the pool, located at the foot of a mountain near the south coast. Be sure to bring your own towel, as the changing rooms have been ruined by tourists and are not ideal. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with warm (but not hot) water filled with algae and clumps of floating grass, but don’t be put off – this natural wonder is undoubtedly worth it!
