Kerið Crater, located in south Iceland, is one of the most dramatic geological wonders in the country. This unique, 6,500 year old caldera is 55 meters deep, 170 meters wide and 270 meters across and is made up of beautiful red volcanic rock and vibrant blue water. It is part of the Western Volcanic Zone that includes the Reykjanes Peninsula and the Langjökull Glacier. You can marvel at this amazing creation of nature, with easy access from the road. For a small entrance fee, you can also climb up and around to fully appreciate the stunning views from the crater's rim, down to the lake below.
