We nearly didn’t stop here, but we’re SO glad we did. It’s beautiful!
The water was so clear that snorkelling felt like looking through glass. And the pool is surrounded by tall palms, so it feels a bit like you’re in the jungle.
And when you get to the main carpark, keep an eye out for the resident peacock who likes to put on a show.
It’s more of a proper pool than Bitter Springs, with steps and concrete edges, so don’t expect the same natural creek experience.
We preferred Bitter Springs because it felt more natural, but Mataranka is still absolutely worth visiting.
We’d happily go back, just not in November next time. The heat was bloody intense.
