San Isiro, a historic town just north of Buenos Aires, has it all with a historic center that is reminiscent of Argentina’s European aristocratic past and an artistic, youthful, and outdoorsy riverfront.

It’s just a short train ride from downtown Buenos Aires and the perfect day trip whether you want to brunch in a mansion or to kayak on the river.

On the weekends there is an outdoor artisan market in the main square in front of the cathedral. There are historic mansions - Quinta Los Ombues - open as museums, and new restaurants opening every month.

Head down to the river front for water sports (at Peru Beach) and art galleries.

How to get here? You can take the train and wander on your own. To reach the historic center, take the Tigre line train from Estacion Retiro and get off a the San Isidro station. You could also take the Tren de la Costa and get off at Barracas (for the river) or San Isidro (for the historic sites).

Take a tour! If you want to have it all taken care of, this bike tour includes a ride on the train and visits to Tigre and San Isidro. Use code SOLSALUTE to save 10%.
