The Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo in a historic mansion houses a stunning collection of decorative arts.

Exquisite furniture, tapestries, elegant porcelain and silverware in this museum offer a glimpse into the opulent lifestyles of the past when this was the Paris of South America.

But I don't go here for the tapestries, I'm here for the building. This is the Palacio Errázuriz Alvear, built in 1911 for Josefina de Alvear and Matías Errázuriz Ortúzar. The couple spent 10 years in Europe and had acquired an extensive collection of art. In 1936, the house and part of their collection was sold to the national government. A year after that this museum open its doors.

There's a cafe in the patio where you can enjoy a coffee in front of this epic mansion and to rest your feet in style.
