Plaza San Martín is a park located in Retiro in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires.. It used to be the site of colonial Spanish governors' residences and later served as a trading post for the British South Sea Company. After various historical events, the plaza was transformed into this beautiful public space with canopies of Tipa trees that blanket the plaza in yellow flowers every December.

You'll see a larger than life equestrian statue of José de San Martín, the plaza's namesake and key figure in Argentina's Wars for Independence.

Facing Avenida Libertador on the lower level of the plaza you'll find a memorial for the soldiers that lost their lives in the war for the Malvinas.
