In residential Villa Crespo "El Pasaje Cantina," more commonly known as the Bodegón de las Abuelas was run by two Uruguayan sisters, Maria del Carmen and Teresita. In May 2025 Teresa passed away, but Maria del Carmen is still at the helm.

The sisters have always cooked hearty homemade dishes here for over 40 years. The menu that has specials that change daily, featuring traditional favorites like homemade pastas and stews. You can check their daily menu on their Instagram page every morning.

Pro tip: For a big foodie outing, I like to have a steak lunch two blocks away at Madre Rojas then walk over here for their homemade flan for dessert. Two great restaurants in one sitting!
