Artgentina's sense of humor is one of the best in the world. This country has really been through it and isn't comedy the best coping mechanism? Along with their incredbile literary figures, Argentina has a rich culture of comic strips. You read that right. And statues of their most famous characters are scattered all over San Telmo with the Paseo de la Historieta.

But of all these characters, the most famous and loved is Mafalda, here on the corner of Defensa and Chile streets.

Tourists wait in long queues for a photo with her on Sundays. Go any other day of the week to snap a quick picture without the line.

The statue was unveiled in 2009 by sculptor Pablo Irrgang.
