The Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno (BNMM) in Recoleta was designed by famous Argentine architect Clorindo Testa. It's an example of the architect's brutalist designs, combining functionality with bold aesthetics, featuring sharp angles, large concrete volumes, and expansive glass panels.

The library was founded in 1810 but the building you see here opened in 1992.

Interesting fact: On the land where this library now stands was once the home of Evita and Juan Peron, the "Palacio Evita." They lived here before moving to the official presidential home. Their mansion was demolished to remove any legacy of the Peron's. Part of the home still exists and houses a museum and cafe in their honor aptly called Café Perón, entrance around the corner.

There are daily guided visits in Spanish that last 90 minutes, daily at noon. No reservations required, just show up a few minutes early and announce yourself in the entrance hall. They take place at noon on weekdays and at 2 pm and 4 pm on Saturdays.
