In the charming old town of Funchal you find a cable car station, which sticks out like a sore thumb. It's not a charming addition to the old town, but nonetheless an efficient and scenic mode of transportation to the must-visit destination, Monte Palace Tropical Garden. The ride takes around 15 minutes. Buy the roundtrip ticket unless you are doing the Toboggan sled.
