This cable car travels between the mountain village Bristen (834m) and the Golzern alpine area (1375m).

What to do there

From the top of the cable car, it's a 30 min walk to the Golzernsee lake, where you can swim.

The Höhenweg Maderanertal trail hikes far up the valley then loops back to the bottom of the cable car. 16km.

You can hike up to the Windgällen mountain hut, about 5 hours round trip.

The one-way Silener High Mountain Trail ends here.

How to get there

The Golzern cable car is located at Talweg 37 6475 Silenen.

By public transport: From Erstfeld, Bahnhof (bus stop at train station), ride bus 407 to Amsteg, Post. Then change to bus 401 to Bristen, Talstation Golzern. Travel time 31 mins. Check schedule on SBB.ch.

Travel time from Lucerne 47 mins, Zurich 1h.

By car: Drive to Amsteg, then follow signs to Bristen, driving up a steep, winding one-lane road to Bristen. Drive through village until you reach a large parking lot next to the cable car station.

If you don't want to drive up the mountain road, there are a few parking spots near the Amsteg, Post bus stop. You can ride the bus from there up to Bristen.

Schedule

The Golzern cable car is open year round. Summer hiking season is typically mid June through October.

From June to September, the cable car runs every 15 mins from 6:45-19:00 (does not run at 12:15 - lunch break). It runs less frequently the rest of the year.
