Berggasthaus Tannalp is a mountain guesthouse in the Melchsee Frutt area, a popular place for lunch for day trippers.

It's also a convenient place to stay if you want an easy "hut" experience, as the hike to reach it is quite easy and they provide linens, unlike more remote huts.

Open: mid June to mid October

Restaurant

Their restaurant serves classic Swiss mountain dishes and local specialties. They have lots of outdoor seating so you can enjoy the view and indoor tables if you need to warm up.

Guesthouse

Their guesthouse has room for 60 people. They have seven double rooms, two with private toilets and showers, the others share. Their dormitory has 4, 5, and 6 bed rooms with bunks, a good choice for families. Linens and towels are provided.

Prices are per person and include breakfast and dinner. You can pay by card or Twint. Dogs are allowed (small fee).

They also have 30 beds in their neighboring cheese hut, special request only. No linens provided.

How to get there

From the top of the Stöckalp-Melchsee Frutt gondola, you can walk here in about 90 mins, either on the service road or hiking trail. Or take the easy way and ride there with the Fruttli train shuttle.

You can also get here by hiking on the Via Alpina trail from Engelberg, Engstlensee, or Hasliberg Alpen Tower.
