The Youth Hostel in Zermatt is a practical and budget-friendly choice, particularly for families.

With a range of room options including single, double, family, and shared rooms, there's something for everyone. For solo travelers, you can book a bed in a shared room for as low as CHF 50/night in summer. They have two family rooms and bunk rooms with up to 6 beds, with their own toilet and shower.

The rooms are very basic, no decorations or creature comforts, as you might expect from a hostel. They have their own restaurant and terrace with a view, plus table tennis and fussball table for leisure time. For families, they have a children's play corner, cots, highchairs, and changing tables. They have a washing machine and dryer on site (for a fee) and luggage lockers.

The hostel is up the hill from the main shopping street, making for a nice view but a long walk from most restaurants and the mountain railways. But there is a shuttle bus stop just two minutes away, making it easier for families with small children that get tired walking.
