This trail starts at the Kleine Scheidegg mountain pass and leads down towards Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. This is a nice way to spend more time with the spectacular views of the Lauterbrunnen valley.
Open: usually late June to mid October
Conditions: webcams • weather
Since the trail parallels the mountain train line, you can easily shorten the trail by catching the train at one of the middle stations. Here are the distances between stations:
Kleine Scheidegg to Wengernalp - 2.3 km • 35 mins • descends 195m
Wengernalp to Allmend - 2.6 km • 45 mins • descends 398m
Allmend to Wengen - 1.9 km • 30 mins • descends 210m
Wengen to Lauterbrunnen - 2.9 km • 1h • decends 487m
The trail is a wide gravel path, occasionally used by service vehicles. The prettiest section is the first part from KS to Wengernalp, which has more open views of the mountains.

⏱️Make sure to check the time for the last train down on SBB.ch, so you don't get stuck on the mountain. In high summer, the last train down is usually 18:44, otherwise usually 18:14.
How to fit into your itinerary
This trail is a particularly good option for those staying in Wengen or Lauterbrunnen. Here are a couple ideas:
after visiting the Jungfraujoch, return to Wengen by foot instead of riding the train
after hiking the panorama trail from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg, continue on this trail to make your hike longer
from Wengen/Lauterbrunnen, ride the train up to Kleine Scheidegg then walk back down
How to get there
From Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald Grund stations, ride the mountain train to Kleine Scheidegg, where the trail starts.
The hike ends in Wengen, where you can catch the mountain train down to Lauterbrunnen. Then a regular train to your final destination.
Cost
You'll need tickets for the mountain railways you use to access the start and end of the trail.
Best to purchase tickets on the SBB Mobile app or at the train station where you start your day. They charge an extra fee for buying tickets on the train.
These trains are free with the Jungfrau Travel Pass.
