Beginner Glacier Tour
We did the Aletsch Glacier Round Tour, which is suitable for those with no previous experience walking on glaciers.
The tour included 2h hiking to the glacier, 3h of hiking on the glacier ice, and 2h hike back to the cable car.
This tour was moderate difficulty, suitable for those with average fitness. Children from age 10 are welcome.
What to wear and bring
They provide all the safety equipment, including crampons and safety harness.
You need to wear warm clothing, including a hat and gloves. We suggest layers like a long sleeved shirt, fleece and windproof outer layer, so you can adjust as temperatures change.
You also need to wear sturdy waterproof boots that can be used with crampons. You can rent them from the Volken Sports store at the gondola station, but you must reserve in advance.
You should also bring a backpack with water and snacks and any other supplies you may need during the day.
