Atzmännig is a small mountain resort southeast of Zürich. This trail has fantastic panorama views across the Zürich Oberland countryside, with many mountain peaks in the distance.

Hike: moderate • 2.5 h • 6.9 k • 190m up, 520m down • trail map

Open: May to end of October

Conditions: www.atzmaennig.chwebcam • weather

The hike is moderate loop accessed by a chairlift. There is a restaurant at the halfway point, where you can get drinks and a hot meal.

At the valley station, there is summer toboggan, a pay-to-play amusement center, and ropes park.

Note: In fall, on some days, there is military shooting practice in the area and part of the trail is blocked. The detour is well-marked, Make sure to follow instructions on any signs in the area.

How to get there

By public transport: Take a train to Rüti ZH, then buses to Atzmännig, Schutt, which is directly at the mountain resort. From Zürich, 1h20 by train + bus.

By car: The address is Atzmännigstrasse 1, 8638 Goldingen. We suggest driving via Goldingen. Otherwise, your GPS may route you on a one-lane country road, which is quite stressful.

Costs

For this hike, you'll need a one-way ticket on the chairlift.
