Ride a cable car to a spectacular viewpoint over two glaciers that sit above Saas Fee Switzerland and do a short walk to three glacier lakes. It's a super easy outing for all ages with arguably the best views in all of the Saastal region.

There is a short wander at the top, visiting three tiny beautiful glacier lakes reflecting the mountains above. We ate lunch at the mountain hut that overlooks the glacier, enjoying polenta with local cheese.

How to get there

This glacier viewpoint is located above the car-free village of Saas Fee in southern Switzerland.

1. Get to Saas Fee village. By car, you park in a large garage at the entrance of the village Parkhaus Saas-Fee. By public transport, bus to Saas Fee, Post.

2. Walk through the village to the Saas-Fee Spielboden gondola.

3. Ride gondola to Spielboden. Then transfer to large cable car for the last section to Langfluh.

4. The cable car drops you at the hut restaurant.

What to do

There is a small dirt area around the restaurant where you can wander freely.

If conditions are safe, you can do a short walk on the snow to visit small glacier lakes, as indicated by signs onsite labeled "Rundweg Gletscherseen". You'll need waterproof shoes and ideally hiking sticks to help keep your balance. It's not a prepared trail, so it can be tough to walk on.
