This trail is Stage 1 of the Aletsch Panorama Trail, a one way route connecting the alpine villages Belalp and Riederalp.
It passes through alpine meadows with views of the immense Aletsch glacier in the distance. Along the way, you cross a long suspension bridge over the gorge cut by the glacier. Then up a mountain through a forest full of larch trees, that turn bright yellow and orange in mid October.
Trail: 11 km • about 4-5 hours • 600m up, 700m down • See trail map
When to go: This trail is usually open from July through mid October. It's particularly nice in mid October with the golden larch trees.

How to get there
To reach the trail, you ride a cable car from Blatten bei Natters up to Belalp. The trail ends in Riederalp, where you take a cable car down to Mörel, which has a train station.
Both cable cars are accessible by public transport. By car, we suggest parking at the Brig train station and using public transport to access the cable cars. Learn more in my SwissFamilyFun.com article.
