The Abbey Library of Saint Gall is a medieval monastic library that dates back to the 8th century. Designated as a World Heritage Site, it houses a collection of nearly 160,000 volumes, including rare manuscripts.

The library's Rococo-style hall, built in the mid 1700s, features a Greek inscription above the entrance that translates to "healing place for the soul."
