This spot is the main lounging and picnic area for visitors to the Oeschinensee. It's a large open space along the water, with a mix of sun and shade. You'll find benches and several fire pits, which are happily shared with strangers.

This area has direct access for swimming, but the water is icy cold so no one stay in very long.

NOTE: In May, early June and fall, the water level can be very low. So the rocky shoreline is much longer, giving quite a different look to the lake.

If you arrive at the lake near the restaurant, you may not realize this area exists. Keep following the trail past the restaurant, to the left thru the forest. In a few minutes, you'll reach the picnic area.
