For a special experience, you can stay overnight in the Faulhorn mountain hut, which has been overlooking the Jungfrau Region since 1830.

How to get there

To reach the hut, you can ride a gondola from Grindelwald to First. Then hike about 2.5 hours up to the hut, passing the beautiful Bachalpsee lake on your way. See trail map.

At the hut, you'll have spectacular views of the Jungfrau Region as well as Lake Brienz and many other mountains in the Bernese Oberland.

The hut has dormitories and private rooms, as well as family rooms that can fit 2 adults and 2 children. Prices start at CHF 77/adult, which includes dinner and breakfast.

After your hut stay, you could hike back to Grindelwald First. Instead, we suggest hiking to Schynige Platte, about 10.7km / 3 - 4 hours. Then you can ride a mountain train down to the valley. Learn more about this trail.
