Rochers de Naye is the highest mountain peak near Montreux, at just over 2000m. You can easily reach this viewpoint by riding a vintage cogwheel train directly from Montreux to the top, with beautiful views the whole ride.
At the top, you'll get breathtaking views of Lake Geneva and the Swiss and French Alps right next to the train station, no hike required. We think this is a must-do for any trip to the Montreux Riviera area.
How to get there
The vintage cogwheel train leaves hourly from the Montreux train station.

What to do there
For even nicer views, a short walk up to an observation deck on the top of the peak. Optionally continue the trail along the ridge to other viewpoints, about an hour round trip.
In the opposite direction, it's a short walk to the alpine garden, which has 1000 plant species.
There is also a marmot enclosure just a short walk from the restaurant.
Note that other hikes from the top are steep and long, so not suitable for the casual day tripper.
Where to eat
The Alpin Restaurant is right above the mountain train station, with an outdoor terrace facing the mountains.
Note: The Panoramic restaurant built into the cliffs is only open for large groups with pre-booking.
