The Jungfraujoch is the most popular tourist destination in Switzerland next to Zermatt & Matterhorn. At 3,454m (11,332 ft), it’s the highest rail station in Europe with observation decks (indoor and outdoor) with big panorama views of famous peaks and the enormous Aletsch glacier.

It also has a variety of amusements, including a glacier cave, a snow fun park, multimedia tour of the history of this place, restaurants and gift shops.

Of course, walking on glacier snow is not quite as special in winter when snow is everywhere. But the views are spectacular and seeing the Aletsch glacier is impressive any time of year.

TICKETS

It's an expensive outing, but slightly less in winter than in summer high season. In winter 2023, a round trip ticket from Grindelwald Terminal costs CHF 201/adult. You get a discount with theSwiss Travel Pass and other Swiss travel cards.

You can make a seat reservation for an extra fee. I don't find it necessary in winter, as crowds are much less than summer. I also don't like being stuck to a particularly timetable. But if you are worried, then make a seat reservation here.
