This vintage cogwheel train takes visitors up to the Schynige Platte mountain viewpoint, which has views down to Interlaken, the lakes, and many mountains n the Jungfrau Region and beyond.
At the top, there is a restaurant, playground, alpine flower garden, short activity trail for kids, and moderate ridge trail (2h).

This mountain train departs from the Wilderswil train station Hauptstrasse 10, 3812 Wilderswil.
By train: From Interlaken Ost 5 mins, Lauterbrunnen 15 mins, Grindelwald 30 mins.
By car: There is a large "Park+Ride" lot a short walk north of the Wilderswil train station at Alte Staatsstrasse, 3812 Wilderswil (see available spots). Overflow parking at nearby Matten bei Interlaken train station.

The Schynige Platte train runs about every 50 mins. It takes 52 mins to reach the top.
The train is usually open for summer season from July to mid October. Check current schedule.
Tickets
You can purchase tickets at the Wilderswil train station, via the SBB mobile app or website, or the Jungfrau Region website.
You do not need to purchase tickets in advance, first come, first served. There can be a wait on busy days, so best to arrive well before your departure time.
In 2025, this ticket is free with Jungfrau Travel Pass and Berner Oberland Pass.
