Cheese is a huge part of Swiss culture, so no visit to Switzerland should be without a visit to a cheese factory. The closest cheese factory near Zurich is the Appenzeller Show Dairy, where you can watch live cheese production on the factory floor.

Our family enjoyed the interactive tour about cheese making in the region. They have lots of fun activities for children, including creating your own herbal mix. Their restaurant serves fondue and other cheese dishes, a good opportunity to sample local flavors.

We suggest combining this with a visit to the nearby Maestrani's Chocolarium and/or Ebenalp cliff restaurant .
