Medicine Lake in Jasper is unlike any other—due to an underground drainage system, it disappears and reappears throughout the year. In summer, it’s a stunning, reflective lake, while in fall, much of the water vanishes, revealing a rocky riverbed.

Easily accessible along Maligne Lake Road, it’s a great stop for wildlife spotting and taking in the unique landscape. The lake’s mysterious nature and ever-changing appearance make it a fascinating place to visit. The water reappears in the Maligne Canyon another popular stop in Jasper!
