Gap Lake sits in the Bow Valley Wildlads Pronvicial Park just outside of the small hamlet of Exshaw. Facilities along the lakeshore include picnic tables and a boat launch for non-motorized watercraft such as SUP, kayaks, and canoes. It's a nice scenic lake, that has mountain views. It's not popular for international visitors as it's next to a quarry and chemical plant.

The lake is at its "best" in the early winter months from December-January when wind and cold temperatures make for great natural lake ice skating. Please practice safe ice skating practices if you choose to venture to the lake. This means checking the ice thickness and carrying proper safety equipment.
