The El Ángel Ecological Reserve in the northern part of Ecuador is a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Here, lush forests and high mountain moorlands create an otherworldly landscape that's both beautiful and unique. While hiking here, you'll be able to spot some of the incredible species that live within its boundaries, including condors, deer, curiquingues, and unique frailejones (espelatia) shrubs. There are also plenty of fascinating volcanic formations and lagoons dotted throughout the massive 16541 hectares of protected land. The reserve also protects the nascent of several rivers and offers numerous trails where adventurers can explore waterside meadows, mysterious Polylepis forests, and undiscovered wildlife. No matter what sort of activity you prefer, the magnificent landscape of El Ángel provides something for everyone.
