Reventador is an active stratovolcano located in the eastern Andes of Ecuador, within the national park of the same name. Reventador boasts not only its impressive cone, but also the record of over 25 eruptions since 1541 - although many of them have gone largely unreported due to its isolated location. The largest recorded historical eruption was in 2002, when ash reached a height of 17km and pyroclastic flows travelled up to 7km from the cone. Most recently, a series of eruptions between 2008-2023 have left the volcano in continuing eruption status, making it one of the most active volcanoes in Ecuador. With its caldera 4 kilometres across, impressive volcano summit and dense foliage enveloping it, Reventador promises to be an exciting and unforgettable experience for any willing adventurer. Not possible to summit due to it's active status. You can reach the main viewpoint by tour with the Hosteria El Reventador. It costs 25$
