Reserva Biológica Yanacocha is an ecological reserve located in the slopes of Pichincha in Ecuador, just a quick hop, skip and jump away from Quito. This amazing slice of high altitude cloud forest is a popular spot for hikers and wildlife watchers alike. It is home to 122 species of birds, as well as the endangered Black-breasted Puffleg Hummingbird, with impressive views of Guagua Pinchincha Volcano to take in along the trails. Visitors can explore dizzyingly diverse plantlife here, catch glimpses of Andean Spectacled bears, or just sit back and watch the lively show of hummingbirds in the gardens.
