Laguna del Quilotoa is an absolutely stunning crater lake located in the Pujilí Canton of Ecuador's Cotopaxi Province, and it forms part of the Andes mountains. It is an incredibly popular tourist destination that offers stunning views of the deep lake nestled within a 3-kilometer wide caldera that was created by a catastrophic volcanic eruption some 800 years ago. Visitors can take a four to five-hour hike around the lake's circumference, and the lake has been known to have a greenish color due to its dissolved minerals. There are various hostels and accommodations available in the immediate area as well, so travelers may stay near the captivating lake for an extended period of time. There are daily tours from Quito.
