The Morteratsch Glacier, located in the Bernina Range of the Swiss Alps, is the largest glacier in the area. It's a typical valley glacier with a significant ice front that has been rapidly retreating over the years. Despite efforts to protect it, like using artificial snow to cover the ice, the glacier continues to shrink. When you walk over to the glacier, thr path is accompanied by signs that mark the glacier going back. Because it has gone back so much, you can now also hike up the hill at the end and go super close to the glacier. The zone is marked as dangerous though, because parts of the glacier can always break off and cause a floodwave.
